It could be a simple platformer game, with some touches of "grab an item there to unlock a door here", and, in fact, it is. But the details make this game great. I liked much the idle screensaver, and the way the scenery tells us the story - minimalistic as it is, but still a story, still something going on. And the final is a great conclusion for it all.
